4 歲開始打鼓, 6歲己開始在 美國東岸巴爾的麼 （Baltimore，US) 的酒吧註場演出。1978年以18歲之齡加入Parliament-Funkadelic fame 直至1985年, 90年代加入 John Scofield 的樂隊。自此開展與不同爵士大師的合作生涯。Dennis 更被Drummer Magazine 列入鼓手名人堂, 當代最偉大的100位鼓手之一。2011年被David Letterman 的節目 "Late Show"上的Drum Solo Week 邀請作其中一位「鼓神」嘉賓。

喜歡爵士樂的朋友, 一定不會對丹麥的爵士樂文化感到陌生, 每年的哥本哈根爵士音樂節皆是歐洲一大盛事, 而Chris 就是丹麥廣播電台爵士樂隊 DR Big Band 的藝術總監。

他於2008年榮獲爵士樂大獎Ben Webster Prize, 丹麥女皇Queen Margrethe II 更為表揚他的音樂造詣頒發騎士勳章。Chris 亦是 Michael Brecker Quartet 及 the Mike Stern Band 的成員。

「演而優則創」，他是鋼琴家亦是作曲家。2014年憑 "All My Children" 贏得艾美獎（EMMY Award）,另外兩個創作 "One Life to Live" and "As the World Turns"也獲得提名。 同時，他與Chaka Khan 和 the Brecker Brothers 的合作也拿到了3 個格林美獎 (GRAMMY Award)。
