This scheme covers four aspects:
01
Hands-on Experience
Through interacting with professionals who work as drummers in Hong Kong, learning drumming techniques systematically and performing on stage, students are able to explore beyond the academic sphere and become more confident. The instructors teach students not only drumming techniques, but also introduce them to the historical background of drumming, terminology and music theory, which help broaden their knowledge and deepen their understanding of drumming culture.

Team Building
The training on drumming techniques is a solid base for playing as a team. Students will be taught ways to present oneself and each other at the same time, displaying united group coordination, confidence and harmony in performances.

Body Movement
Apart from the music and rhythm training, part of the workshops will be led by a choreographer who guides students to use body gesture and stick trick movement to create a unique performance style on stage.

Achievements Sharing
Students will participate in the joint school finale performance at professional performance venue to share their learning outcomes with the public.

Content
The programme aims to plant the seed of "Drumset x Drumline" culture among the students. Drumming is an art that emphasises not only musical abilities but also team spirit, discipline and physical training. Under the concept from Drumline, students will use specially designed practice pads for training and performance. With less burden on musical instruments, students can not only practise their individual drum playing techniques, but also drumstick tricks and twirls, making the activity more interesting. Music samples of the U.S. drumming group Bring Your Own Style (BYOS) will be adopted for practice.
計劃內容
計劃旨在培養學生對「套鼓 x 鼓樂隊」文化的興趣。鼓樂這種 藝術不但著重音樂能力，更注重團隊精神、紀律和體能訓練。 以鼓樂為本，參與同學會以練習板進行培訓，鼓樂導師會教 導學生調校自己的練習板。以練習板為主的訓練對學生的體 能要求相對較低，可以讓更多學生參與。此計劃將選用美國鼓 樂組合BYOS(Bring Your Own Style)的演出模式作練習。
本計劃涵蓋四大要點:
親身體驗
透過在本地從事鼓手工作的專業老師教授、有系統地學習擊鼓技巧以及在專業舞台上作結業演出，學生有機會探索學術領域以外有關表演藝術的事物，學習成為更有自信的人。導師不但教授擊鼓技巧，也會為學生介紹鼓樂的歷史背景、術語和樂理，擴闊他們對鼓樂文化的了解，有效地幫助他們發展音樂及打鼓的潛能。
肢體動作
除了音樂與節奏的訓練，部分課堂將有編舞家一同參與，加入花式鼓棍技巧訓練，引導參與同學利用身體姿勢和花式鼓棍動作，創作獨特的舞台表演風格。
團隊精神
鼓樂技巧訓練是團隊演奏的基礎。訓練過程中，學生除了會學習如何在表現自己的同時，亦要關注隊員們的統一性，並呈現出隊員與隊員間的協調，在整體演出中展示出自信與和諧。
分享成果
參與同學將在專業表演場地作公開演出，與公眾分享學習成果。
The scheme will run for 10 months in three phases from September 2024 to July 2025
計劃為期10個月,由每學年9月至下年7月分三個階段進行:
Phase 1:
In-school Drumming Demonstration (1 performance)
To arouse students' interest in music and the project, an in-school drumming demonstration, to be performed by professional drummers, will be arranged for each participating school. Students will be introduced to different genres of drumming and be invited to participate in live rhythmic games.
1. 校內鼓樂示範
為引起學生對鼓樂及本計劃的興趣,藝團會安排專業鼓手到參與學校示範不同音樂種類的鼓樂,並邀請同學即場參與節奏遊戲。
Phase 2:
Workshop (25 sessions) & Final Rehearsal (5 sessions)
Based on the school facilities and response among students, the arts group will make assessment and choose the best training between the following options for the school on mutual agreement:
Drumline
A drums band usually involves various percussion instruments, and training is usually designed to match the patterns in marching and matrixes. The drum's band in the "Drums in Move" project, however, is focused on "drums". It uses light-weight drum pads and complemented with technique training on drum stick tricks and movement of the body.
Drumline + Drumset
The training includes a drumline and a drumset. Individual student from the group will be auditioned to play the role of drumset in the team. Any school that is interested in this kind of training must have at least one drumset available at school
2. 工作坊(25節工作坊和5節演前排練)
視乎學校設施及參與同學情況而定,藝團會對參與學校進行評估,並與校方達成協議,選定以下其中一項訓練種類:
鼓樂隊
鼓樂隊是敲擊樂的一部分,通常以步操配合演出。樂團例子包括中學和大專學院的步操樂隊、鼓號樂團及室內敲擊樂樂團等。鼓樂隊中的步操樂隊通常包括小鼓、低音鼓、高音鼓和鐃鈸等樂器。選擇鼓樂隊作訓練的學校學生會以練習板接受鼓樂訓練,同學在擊鼓時需做出不同的身體動作配合演奏。
鼓樂隊 + 套鼓
這項訓練會在鼓樂隊的基礎上加上一套套鼓,個別學生將被挑選,在隊中擔任演奏套鼓的角色。學校必須於校內備有最少一套套鼓,方可選擇此項訓練。
Phase 3:
Modern Drumline Battle Joint School Competition (1 performance with competition)
Since its inception in 2017, the "Drums 'N' Move" program has been well-received by the school community. This year, the final concert will feature an inter-school competition element. It provides opportunities for sharing their learning drumming outcome and exchange between schools. The competition "2024 Modern Drumline Battle Schools Competition (MDBHK) Individual & Ensemble (I&E)" and will be open to all primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong.
The Modern Drumline Battle Schools Competition, referred to as MDBHK, is an inter-school drumline competition held as part of the Hong Kong International Drummer Festival. It is open to all primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Each participating team must compete in two main categories: solo performance and ensemble performance.
3. 校際鼓隊比賽
由2017年籌辦至今，「鼓動節拍」(「讓鼓棍飛」優化版項目之前身)活動被受學校群歡迎，因此今年的演出活動將加入校際比賽元素，讓校際之間有互相切磋鼓樂的機會，比賽將命名為「2024 Modern Drumline Battle Schools Competition(MDBHK) Individual & Ensemble (I&E)」並開放予全港中、小學參與。
整個活動以演出為交流，比賽為鼓勵。演出環節為傳統「鼓動節拍」大合奏2首，參與「鼓動節拍」項目的學校單位分成2隊。比賽環節環節完成後隨即進入每全體學校大合奏演出。
Modern Drumline Battle Schools Competition (下稱:MDBHK)為香港國際鼓手節舉 辦之校際鼓隊比賽，開放予全港中、小學參與。每個參賽單位均需參與個人獨奏及合 奏兩大項目
